Personal Jounrey

Okay, so I gave it a chance and to my surprise, the pounds are slipping off and it seems effortless.

Humm, one might ask themselves...why couldn’t we/I figure this out for myself? It’s not like I didn’t already have the information now, is it? Why is Dr. Phil had such an impact on the way I think. I believe it’s his “get real” philosophy. I love it!! I’m really starting to see the difference that a so-called “few pounds” makes. To be precise, 23 pounds. Yep, that’s what I said, 23 pounds and just since January 5th, 2004. I just couldn’t believe it!! My clothes are already beginning to sag and I’m going to have to go shopping...what a shame...LOL

The group meetings are fabulous. We meet once a week and discuss the issues that can help each other through the coming week. The buddy system is great too. We keep in touch through the week to encourage each other to stay on track and keep the forward momentum going. It helps to know that there are others who sometimes feel a little overwhelmed by the day to day issues that arise but when our buddy calls or emails, it takes our minds off it for awhile.

My eating habits have improved incredibly and I’m so proud of myself for staying on track. It’s in my hands now and I have total control over my actions and I feel good about every decision I make. If it doesn’t help me toward my goal, I usually opt go the other way.

My before picture is something I’m not proud of but the next one I add will show a difference. Stay tuned, it’s coming soon. To all of you out there...keep the forward momentum going in your lives and stay strong. You definitely have what it takes to succeed!!

Utilizing Your Circle of Support

Over the last week and a half I have had to re inforce utilizing Key 7-One group member had reached a platue of sorts and was feeling stressed she was about to reach for food but instead she reached for the pc and I talked her through her problem. She felt better afterwards and thanked me for being there before she did something she was going to regret.

Two nights ago I had a member who had gotten severely down on themselves and I had just got online when this person was in the process of unsubscribing from the group.I asked them why they were unsubscribing and they said they felt worthless among other unhealthy feelings of negative self worth.I spent an entire afternoon trying to get this person to see they are a vital element in our group.

I have asked this person to please call me or email me before dropping out,I also told this person that they were one of the founding members of our group and to put it nicely there was no way I was going to let them give up.So this person re joined the group and is back on track.

I can not stress enough that if you are serious about getting real and do have a circle of support PLEASE reach out to your support system. We have set these support groups up for a reason "to support those who ask for it".Key 7 is vitally important to ones weight loss success.

Sharing in KS

I want to share my story with everyone. I was sitting on my couch eating popcorn with real butter, or eating ice cream watching the Dr. Phil WLC. Then I decided I needed to get real with myself. I posted a letter on the message board on Dr. Phil's website. Within a few hours I recieved an invitation from a lady(Joe) to join her WLC group on yahoo. So I went to check it out. Boy.....was I suprised. Everyone is so supportive and helpful. They don't judge you.

I have lost 16 lbs so far. And it is just the begining of my journey. There is so much going for our group now. We have photo sections to share our photos, and I have posted recipes for everyone to try out. We have weekly saturday chats to get to know everyone better. We are having our first meeting coming up in March, and the group owner is getting T-Shirts and water bottles made for us with our group logo on it, and at that time we will have a group picture taken. We are now involved in a Virtual!

Walk with other groups, converting our excerises minutes to miles, and see how far each groups goes. In an upcoming meeting we have contacted one of the orginal WLC participent of the Dr. Phil show to speak for us. We have weigh in's every monday. And also have in our database our measurements, which is done every month. It is just a terrific group I can't say enough about it. I really don't know where I would be without this group. And our group is called, "KSandFriends-inwlc". Just wonderful!!!

Akron Event

On January 6 2004 the Akron Ohio live support group had its firt clothes drive of the year. We collect around 8 large trash bags of clothes that we are to small for and that we are never going to go back into along with 4 bags of childrens clothes and donated them to a local womans shelter. We were all surprised to see the tables of clothes that were brought in to donate. Our next drive will be in May and we are hoping for as many if not more of those clothes that are too big to show up on the tables.

At the end of the month we are planning a shopping trip to one of the local stores to check out all the healthy foods and get some ideas from a friend of mine who is a nutritionist on how to prepare and by healthy.
